Your Side Does it Too
Ripping the Mask off Duopolistic Ignorance
My party would never do that.
My party wouldn’t be corrupt.
My party engages in fair play during elections.
It’s the other side that commits fraud.
It’s the other party that’s evil and corrupt. It’s their side not mine.
You’re all wrong.
“Absolute power does not corrupt absolutely, absolute power attracts the corruptible.”
―Frank Herbert
For 162 years, Democrats and Republicans have engaged in their game of tug of war. Always tugging, with the American people stuck in the middle. As the power of the US has grown, so has the corruption in the heart of the Republic. The greater the prize, the greater the lengths people are willing to go to get their hands on it.
One of the many flaws of the American voting public is the belief their side is blameless. A rock of virtue amongst the sea of shit that is American politics. This belief is horseshit, and I’m going to lay out why.
Gerrymander? I Hardly Know Her
Gerrymandering is a constant concern in American elections. (Also wildly misunderstood) The altering of districts to benefit or fuck over a certain political party is a major obstacle to fair representation. Now you may be sitting in your chair smugly thinking, "Well, my side doesn’t do that. My side plays by the rules.”
You’d be wrong.
My home state of Nevada earned an F from the Princeton Gerrymandering Project for creating a significant partisan advantage for Democrats.
Texas also earned an F but for the opposite party. F for favoring Republicans.
States like Arizona and Colorado however earned an A. Now how is that? Independent commissions who do the redistricting for both congressional and state level. Despite both states having a serious political slant.
If you can’t see the point flying over your head, let me throw the next one at your face.
Those in power want to stay in power.
Independent and hybrid commissions get in the way of maintaining that power. The opposing party will whine, complain and put forward reforms, then reject those reforms the second they gain power.
Election Fraud
Republicans and Trump supporters screamed from the rooftops that Democrats committed election fraud to steal the 2020 election.
Embarrassingly omitting that they themselves tried to do the same thing. The famous case of Donald Hartle who was “aghast” that a ballot had been cast in his dead wife’s name. The only problem was that Hartle did it. He cast the ballot for his dead wife. Nevada Republicans paraded this case around as proof of Democratic fraud.
Now, I’m sure a Democrat or Never Trumper is sneering at Republican hypocrisy.
Trey Adkins, a Democratic county supervisor in Virginia, was nailed with 82 felony charges concerning election fraud. His aunt was also in on the conspiracy.
Election audits are exceedingly rare in the US. Which is weird. If our elections are so safe and secure, why not double-check? In the wake of the 2020 election, the DOJ pressured states to not audit ballots, insinuating that they’d be violating the Civil Rights Act. Why not rub a clean election in the face of Republicans and maybe even uncover some Republican fraud? But no, no audits.
This fits in with a broader pattern. The government will happily put you under a microscope, but not themselves. Weird.
Crime, Corruption, and Corporate Influence
You may still be holding out hope. That your side has better politicians and upstanding, righteous leaders worthy of the greats of Rome and Greece. You’d be wrong again.
George Santos was recently expelled for an array of financial crimes and misdeeds. A congressman being expelled is a rarity in our day. Maxine Waters routinely makes lists of congressional corruption. Bob Menendez, head of the foreign relations committee, was found to be taking bribes from Egypt. Bribes, which sometimes took the form of Gold Fucking Bars. Nancy Pelosi regularly engages in shady stock trading, so much so her portfolio is now an ETF (INSDR) and there are sites where you can track her trades. An ROI of 50% is quite an accomplishment.
Take a gander at the Legislator Misconduct Database. Scroll down, sort, and search for your representative. See just how many Ds and Rs are there.
Remember, if you see a fine, it’s probably unsubstantial and definitely wasn’t paid.
We are governed by some of the shittiest people alive. We have people like Dianne Feinstein (may she burn in hell) and Mitch McConnell (Needs to hurry up) holding onto power—serious power—in national office despite the fact they are clearly incompetent.
We have criminals, the dishonest, and the incompetent leading us and making policy for us. All while getting paid an insane amount of money from salaries, shady stock trades, lobbying, and campaign donations.
One of my biggest frustrations is that the American people will bicker and argue about which party has more pedophiles and which side took more flights with Epstein. But they will absolutely refuse to wonder why our ruling class has so many pedophiles and work together to throw them all out.
I’m fed up with these people. The question is, when are you going to get fed up and kick them all out of office?
“But, what if we ignore you both and vote for a third party!? Ha!!!!”
“GO AHEAD. THROW YOUR VOTE AWAY. FOOLISH HUMAN!!”
